Weber Q2200 Outdoor Gas GrillWeber is a well-known brand in Grilling world and had founded in 1893 but they started manufacturing grills in the early 1900’s. This Q2200 model comes with many features which we are going to discuss below.

This model comes with 280 square-inch total cooking area which makes it popular for camping and small backyard. The stainless steel burners produce 12,000 BTU  per hour which can be used with 14.4oz or 16.1oz LP cylinder.

This Q2200 comes with cast aluminum body and porcelain enameled cast iron cooking grates which makes it lighter in weight (42.5 pounds). This model comes with a large temperature gauge which can be used to see the temperature of the inner side of the grill.

Now comes to the folding stand which is made up of glass reinforced nylon frame which is also lighter in weight and the design looks eye pleasing. With that said, it also has folding side tables which makes it suitable for small places.

The one thing that I didn’t like is this model has a single burner which is uncommon at this price range but if you are looking for a portable gas grill then this is maybe your best choice.

Thermos 4-Burner Gas Grill Under $300

Thermos 4-burner GrillThermos is a 4 burner gas grill under $300 dollars which seems to be a good deal. Though the price is on the lower side, this model comes with unbelievable features which we are going to discuss below.

This model comes with 4-burners which can produce total 48000 BTU. Not only that, it also comes with a handy side burner of 10,000 BTU which can be used to do some side cooking.

The gas grill comes with 480 square-inch primary cooking area and 208 square-inch secondary side cooking area.

This model comes with porcelain-coated cast-iron grates with electrical ignition which is a common feature at this price range.

However, most of the part of this model is not stainless steel which maybe wears and tears after 3-4years and this is the annoying thing. With that said, if you have a tight budget and need a 4-burner grill then this may be the best fit for you.

This model has weighted around 78.1 pounds and the shipping package weighted around 95.7 pounds.

What to look for in a Gas Grill?

There are many features to look for in a gas grill when buying. Let's get started:

Propane or Natural Gas

Propane and Natural gas is the two popular liquid fuels all over the world.

While Propane is portable and freely available, Natural gas is cheaper in the long run, but it requires the installation of a gas line at your home.

If you've a gas connection at home and want to use that for gas grilling then you should go for a gas grill that support natural gas or can work with both fuels propane and natural gas.

There are many propane to natural gas conversion kit available at amazon, if you're going for a new grill then don't forget to see if any conversion kit available or not.

Gas Grill Body Material Cast Iron, Aluminium or Stainless Steel

Gas grill bodies are made from a variety of metals, including cast iron, cast aluminum and stainless steel and their alloy. Most of the time it will resides in outdoor (Mine is also) and that can affect your gas grill's longevity.

Cast aluminum is rust resistant and lightweight, so if you're looking for a grill that'll work for many years to come, you may consider this option.

Stainless steel is your next best bet. However make sure to check the body metal type when you receive the product.

Cast Iron is another material which is used to manufacture grills. Iron materials are prone to oxidation. To prevent oxidation a galvanized coating is used on top of iron, however they wear off after using for 3-5 months.

Gas Grill Cooking Surface

Typically, gas grills have either cast iron, porcelain-coated cast iron, stainless steel, porcelain-coated steel, or just plain steel.

Steel grates tend to be the most affordable option if you're on a budget. However, steel and stainless steel tends to lose its temper and it will start to develop chips, in turn, it leads to food sticking to the grate. Same thing happen with Stainless steel grates after using for longer periods than steel grates.

Porcelain-coated steel or cast iron is a good choice, but the coating does have a nasty habit of chipping away. This can expose the metal underneath to moisture and may result in a rusty surface over time.

Professional grillers prefer bare cast iron and the heavier it is, the better. These offer a surface that not only gets hot but holds a lot of heat. It gives good grill marks and helps food cook faster.

Gas Grill Price Range

If you're a seasoned griller and grilling is your hobby then you should go for any gas grill under $500. However if you're planing to start a grilling business or want to grill a lot, make sure checkout grill under $1000.

Always remember, what you pay is what you get.

Enquire about the warranty. What is covered, and for how long? Inevitably, things will break on a grill, and it’s nice not to have to replace or fix it out of your own pocket.

Gas Grill Size

Gas grill size is one of the main factor to look for. Having too small a grill can be a real frustration- you'll need more time to grill.

If you have less cooking space or don't have a backyard, go for grill that'll fit in your home.

On a large cooking surface, you will need more than one gas burner to get an even heat distribution. Make sure there are enough burners.

Heat Output

The heat output of a gas grill is measured in BTU. The amount of BTU should be balanced with the size of the grill. For example smaller, compact grills can get away with a lot less BTU than larger grills. Too little BTU can increase cooking time.

The more burnes you've, the less cooking time it needed. It also complies with heat output, measured in BTU.

Different types of Igniter

Gas grills are ignited by one of two systems:

– a push button system, which generates a spark
– an electronic system, which requires a battery

The electronic system is more reliable, and will give you a one press ignition pretty much every time.

Some other features to look for:

Here are some additional features or accessories worth looking for when buying a gas grill:
  • Side tables provide you more space for grilling or indirect heating.
  • Rotisserie: this automatic rotating mechanism is great for slow roasting chicken, ribs and other meats that require a long time on the grill.
  • Side burners: these offer you the ability to prepare sauces or other side dishes without interrupting your main cooking process..
